. Cryptogamic plants of the USSR. (Flora sporovykh rastenii SSSR). Plants. VII. Teliospores with one or more cells, the former frequently 2 — 3 on a common pedicel; the pluricellular mostly with longitudinal septa forming either globoid or flat caps. Spermagonia, where known, subcuticular. Mainly in the tropics and subtropics. The genera distributed in the USSR scarcely characteristic of the tribe Ravenelieae. 58 A. Teliospores. 1-celled; in typical species width exceeds length, pedicellate, pedicels shed together with the spores. Spermagonia subcuticular. Aecia absent Pileolaria Cast. B. Teli

Teliospores. 1-celled; in typical species width exceeds length, pedicellate, pedicels shed together with the spores. Spermagonia subcuticular. Aecia absent Pileolaria Cast. B. Teliospores 3-celled, triquetrous. 1. Teliospores chestnut-brown, verrucose. with 2 pores per cell. Spermagonia unknown. Aecia, if present, with peridium. On Ranales (Berberidaceae, Ranunculaceae) Triphragmiopsis Naumov. 2. Teliospores with grayish-black opaque walls, echinulate, pointed or anchor-shaped, with several pores per cell. Spermagonia and aecia unknown. On Umbelliflorae (Umbel- liferae, Araliaceae) only teliospores; on Meliaceae and Sapindaceae with uredio- and teliospores apparently heteroecious Nyssopsora Arth.^ C. Teliospores in hemispherical heads formed by 2—-3 rows of spore cells under which is found a cell-cyst. No pedicels. The head drops following disintegration of the cell-row under the cyst; under the firest head a second may develop (Figure 6). Spermagonia subcuticular. Aecia without peridia. Urediospores single, pedicellate Nothoravenelia Diet.^ VIII. Spermagonia immersed. Aecia with peridia. Teliospores mainly 2-celled. Urediospores known only in one (American) species. Characteristic: formation of gelatinous telia following gelatinization of outer wall of teliospores and of the long pedicel. Teliospores on Cupressaceae, aecia mostly on Rosaceae— Pomoideae Gy mnos por angieae. In the USSR one genus Gymnosporangium Hedw.
