Thepresent book consists, indeed, of a large selection from thevolume referred to, and from the Fifty Modern Poems of1865 ; and though Allingham has written much other verse,including several long poems, these two books compriseprobably nearly the whole of his best work, and to them thefollowing remarks will for the most part be confined.
