Parasitic dodder in bloom (Cuscuta pacifica). This subspecies of dodder is found on only salt marsh plants. Dodder is an unmistakable mesh of bright, thread-like orange branching, with no ground contact. It gets its water from attaching its roots to other plants. The tiny light pink blooms are its flowers. Interesting fact: this plant lacks chlorophyll!
