Perianth 5-10-fid, sestivation imbricate (Raffiesia, Sapria), or valvate (Brugmansia); anthers 1-seriate, adnate under the dilated top of a staminal column (synema), and opening by a single or double pore. Ovary with confluent or distinct many-ovuled placentas. Pericarp semi-adherent or free, fleshy. Seeds recurved, funicle dilated at the top.
