View SE of the small C12th Norman parish church at Hailes, Gloucestershire, England, UK, founded by Ralph de Worcester in the time of King Stephen c. 1135 or c. 1139-51. It was not consecrated until 1175 because of a dispute with the Abbot of Winchombe. The church lies immediately N of Hailes Abbey, founded 1245-6 by Richard Earl of Cornwall, on land given by his brother Henry III; the church became a chapel under the control of Hailes Abbey & used by pilgrims visiting the abbey's miraculous phial of Christ's blood.
