Side Chair 1760–90 American These chairs, from an original set of twelve, along with a settee () and a card table (), descended en suite in the Verplanck family. Queen Anne features—the heavy walnut frame, balloon-shaped seat, and absence of Rococo carving—suggest that the set was made for Samuel Verplanck shortly after his return from Holland in 1763 with his bride, Judith Side Chair. American. 1760–90. Walnut, white oak, white pine. Probably made in New York, New York, United States
