The flowers are of a brilliant rosy scarlet, peculiarly distinct, but most effective hue, about one and one-half inches in diameter, and are produced singly or twos and threes from the axis of the leaves, especially toward the summit of the stems, but so freely that a well grown specimen appears to be quite a ball of fire.
