Oryx (or gemsbok) are unmistakable with their bold black facial markings and their long straight horns. Part of the reason for their success in Namibia is their great adaptability. For example, they can survive without drinking water when necessary provided they can graze or browse or even dig up roots, bulbs and tubers.
