Outline polygonal. Wing-membranefragile, with radiating striae, colourless at the beautiful (fig. 239, x 40). Imperial Paulownia (Paulownia imperialis).—Another winged seed, very distinct from the elongated, almost fiddle-shaped. Wingcolourless and transparent. Smaller and similarmembranaceous frills extend along the surface ofthe seed between the wings. The wings have apeculiar frilled and furbelowed appearance (fig. 240)..
