The protesters claim that the Chinese government is oppressing Muslims in the country after a car exploded in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province outside a regional Communist Party office on the 6th of November 2013. A week earlier a car was driven into a crowd in Tiananmen Square. The Chinese Authorities claimed that this was also a terrorist attack by extremists from the western region of Xinjiang.
