President Andrzej Duda is seen taking part in the ceremony commemorating the 2010 Smolensk air disaster in Warsaw, Poland on April 10, 2021. President Duda commemorated the 97 casualties of the Smolensk government plance crash from April 10, 2010 in which then president Lech Kaczynski also died. The ceremony on Saturday was cut off for all but state media and the vicinity of the ceremony had been hermetically sealed by police to ward off potential protesters. An investigation led by former minister of defence Antoni Macierewicz is said to conclude the 2010 Smolensk air crash was the result of an explosion despite official investigations having concluded the result of the crash came from human error leading to collision with a tree while flying a low altitude in low visibility circumstances.
