The exact date of the founding of the con-gregation, however, is unknown, although it is com-monly believed to have taken place in the year purpose at first was to erect a union church; butthe Lutherans finding that the Reformed people hadcontributed such a paltry sum towards the enterprise,resolved to build an exclusively Lutheran church.
