Built in 537 Hagia Sophia was an Eastern Orthodox cathedral and turned into a mosque in 1453. In 1935 it became a museum and is nowadays a major attraction in Istanbul. 537 gebaut war die Hagia Sophia zunächst eine orthodoxe Kathedrale und wurde 1453 in eine Moschee umgewandelt. Seit 1935 ist die Hagia Sophia ein Museum und eine der großen Anziehungspunkte für Touristen in Istanbul.
