The patient has a deformity causing the distancefrom the costal margin to the pelvic inlet to be diminished. There is markedlordosis in the lumbar region. The spine of the last lumbar vertebra is moreeasily felt than normally. The transverse diameter of the pelvis is increasedowing to the flaring of the iliac bones.
