Coming as ^arly as March 27, it was at one time feared that lilies and other flowering plants would be in short supply, ))ut this did not prove true, except in the fase of lilies. A large number of these were grown and nearly all were flowered 0n time, some a little too early, yet the (lemand was so strong that many thou- sands more could have boon sold. There were few unsold on the morning of March 2(;. Plants carried, as a rule, from three to six flowers and were mainly of the giganteum type. Whole- sale prices were $25 per hundred buds; retail, double this price. Some formo- sums wore seen and these were taller and carried far more flowers than the gigautoums. This is the lily par ex- cellence for an early Easter and for cutting. Kosos wore in good demand. Home fine standards wore included. Tausond- scliocn was more abundant than any otlicr sort, but Hi.'iw.'itlia. Dorothy Perkins, Paul's Scarlet Climber and other ramblers, as well as numerous polyanthas, hyl)ri(l perpetuais and hy- brid teas, were sold, were never seen in greater ;ilinn(laiice or of finer quality. They wore somewhat overdone, esjiecially in the larger sizes. Genistas were fine and sold well; so did ericas and acacias. Azaleas were comparatively scarce and high-priced.
