Pendragon Castle, Mallerstang Dale, Cumbria, UK. Reputed to be the castle of Uther Pendragon, father of Arthur.
There is no archaeological evidence for occupation before the Normans built the present castle in the 12th century. The castle fell into ruins, and was restored in the 17th century by Lady Anne Clifford. Mallerstang Dale is part of the proposed extension of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
