In his native land the father con-ducted a store, but in 1842 he disposed of his busi-ness, and with his family emigrated to America,being four weeks in making the voyage from Liver-pool to New York. Deciding on Wayne county asa location, he took up his residence in Lebanontownship, where he died at the age of eighty years,his wife at the age of sixty-two. In political senti-ment he was a Republican. John Robinson was sixteen years of age whenhe crossed the Atlantic with the family and becamea resident of Lebanon township, Wayne county,and his literary education was all obtained in theschools of England. Here he and his father secureda tract of wild land in the midst of the forest, which.
