Today's protests were held in solidarity with the residents of Khan al-Ahmar, the Bedouin village that Israel is planning to demolish, a plan that has received international condemnation. Since the 30th March Palestinians in Gaza have held weekly rallies resulting in at least 140 Palestinians fatalities and over 15 thousand injuries caused by Israeli fire and tear gas. During the rallies, protesters have been demonstrating against Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip and in support of their right to return to lands they fled or were driven from during the war following the establishment of Israel in 1948. The Israeli army has accused protestors of flying incendiary kites and balloons into Israel, sparking several fires in southern Israel and causing millions of shekels in damages
