But the unfor-tunate bursting of a gun, for which Stockton, not Ericsson,was responsible, causing the death of two Cabinet memberswhile on a party of pleasure, with President Tyler on board,resulted in the unjust refusal to pay Ericsson for his at last declared that he would never set foot in Wash-ington again.
