A twisted log, dessicated by years of weather, fills in the landscape at the Colorado National Monument near Fruita, Colorado.

Fruita, Colorado: Twisted tree stump found in the Colorado National Monument. One of the grand landscapes of the American West, this 32-square-miles of naturally sculpted rock rises more than 2,000 feet above the Grand Valley of the Colorado River, approximately ten miles west of Grand Junction. A 23-mile rim-rock drive gets visitors very close to deep canyons, pinnacles, hoodoos, and magnificent views.
