Penshaw Monument in Sunderland. The monument, dedicated to John George Lambton (the first Earl of Durham and the first Governor of the Province of Canada) dates back to 1844 and is a well known local landmark. It is modelled on the Temple of Hephaestus in Athens and the columns reach up 20 metres.
