Modified Velpeaus Dressing.—A modified form of Vel-peaus dressing for fracture of the clavicle is applied asfollows : A soft towel or piece of lint is placed againstthe side of the body and over the front of the chest, andheld in position by a strip of adhesive plaster; the armis next placed in the Velpeau position, a good-sized padof lint is next applied over the scapula, and this is heldin place by a strip of adhesive plaster two and a halfinches in width and one and a half yards in length; thisstrip is continued downward and forward so as to passover the point of the elbow, and is carried diagonallyacross the chest to the shoulder of the opposite side, andis secured, a slit being cut in it to receive the point ofthe elbow; a compress of lint is next placed over the seatof fracture and held in place by a strip of adhesive plas-ter ; an additional strip of plaster is next carried from the FRACTURES OF THE CLAVICLE IN CHI
