The Forni valley, with the glacier of the same name in the background.
The Forni valley in Valfurva is the ideal starting point for numerous walks and crossings at high altitude. This valley, whose entrance is located just outside the town of Santa Caterina, connects with the Valfurva and is entirely inserted in the territory of the Stelvio National Park. Walking along it you can enjoy a splendid panorama on which the homonymous glacier stands out, surrounded by the unmistakable profile of the famous Thirteen Peaks, among which the Palon de la Mare and San Matteo stand out. Up to 2400 meters, the valley, crossed by the Frodolfo stream, is characterized by pine and stone pine woods which then leave room for the typical high altitude vegetation and rocks and moraines that testify to the ancient expansion of the glacier. In spring the beauty of these places is emphasized by the abundant blooms that stand out in its pastures. The fauna is also very rich: it is easy to admire the many marmots that populate it and hear their characteristic warning whistles; observe the partridges in their mimicry or be enchanted by the flight of the golden More :
