Heart anatomy. 16th-century artwork showing the anatomy of the heart, from 'Anatomia Mundini' (1541) by the German anatomist Jean Dryander (1500-1560). This work was a later edition of an anatomy handbook written in 1316 by the Italian physician Mondino de Liuzzi (). Mondini's anatomy handbook was widely used in different editions for over 250 years. Dryander was also named Johann Eichmann.
