Through the courtesy of theDirector of the Zoological Station at Naples I have been enabledto examine one of the specimens used by the late Dr. Jatta in hisdescription of the species. Mr. Holt and my colleagues examinedit with me. and find that it agrees, in the presence of teeth onthe tentacular suckers, with the English and Irish examplesmentioned above. The specimens from off Trusthorpe, Lincoln-shire, are the largest, and therefore offer the greatest facility forminute examination of the suckers. Each sucker appears to haveabout twenty-four large pointed teeth, with here and there aminute conical tooth between two large ones. The points of thelarge teeth are in many cases broken
