Porto, Portugal - 15 April 2017 Porto is the second city Portugal after Lisbon. Located on the estuary of the Douro River in Northern Portugal, it is one of the oldest populated centres in Europe. Its historical centre was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. Porto is graced by no less than six diverse road and rail bridges crossing the river. In consequence, it is often referred to as the City of Bridges. Arr‡bida Bridge, shown here, is a modern concrete bridge carrying six lanes of traffic across the river.
