Beautiful little Freshwater Spider Crabs (Amarinus lacustris) found in a river estuary. They are about finger-nail sized (1cm or less carapace).

Found hidden in some weeds about 500m upriver from the sea, so quite salty water. They grow to about 10mm max across the carapace - so very small. The three specimens were safely returned to the river after posing for these photos, Cute little critters and a delightful photo-shoot. 50mm Macro lens.
