Leamy of 62 Woodmont Road, Belle Haven, Alexandria, VA., reads a commendation from Admiral Harold R. Stark, Commander of the Naval Forces in Europe. Serving aboard a Coast Guard-manned invasion transport in the initial invasion of France, Lieut. Rawsthorne "so directed the various waves that the landing was effected in close coordination with the landing of other troops of the same organization.
