Evening sunlight on the Church of St. Wilfrid, in Low Marnham, Nottinghamshire, England

The earliest parts of the present church of are from the 13th c., with the windows dating from the 14th & 15th c., and the tower from the 15th; it was restored in 1846. At the time the church was built Low Marnham was more important than it is today, and it has many fine details, including the 13th c. arcade arches, and the 14th c. ogee arch of the south door. There is, however, very little stained glass, save a single panel from the 15th c. depicting St. James, and some heavy late 19th c. glass in the east window. The rest of the glass is clear, giving this large church a light and airy interior . Sadly, in the 20th c. it proved too big for the congregation, who moved to the former village school nearby, rendering the church redundant in 1980, and from 1986 it has been in the hands of the Churches Conservation Trust.
