Annabelle the Cow outside the Old Homestead Steakhouse in the Meatpacking District in New York
Annabelle the Cow outside the Old Homestead Steakhouse in the Meatpacking District in New York has her 60th birthday party on Thursday, February 7, 2013. A gift in 1953 from a Nebraska farmer who would eat at the steakhouse on business trips to New York, the famous bovine statue, weighing 1600 pounds, has stood over the Old Homestead greeting passer-by and customers for 60 years. The restaurant gave away thousands of burgers to those who came as well as slices of the "Cake Boss" birthday cake created by the star of the TLC series Buddy Valastro. Annabelle is a star in her own right appearing in numerous television shows filmed in New York. The restaurant has been at its location since 1868. (© Richard B. Levine)
