The cord that draws the blinds off isfastened in the strip g, passing back under theblinds, over rollers (which are four inches in di-ameter at ends and centre, with groove forcord), and passing down into the room. Indrawing them back they fold nearly as per-. GLASS-HOUSE CONSTRUCTION. 101 The frame of tlie tent is made of spruce pine 2x3 inches, except the sixposts and foot pieces, whicli are 3x4 inches. The mortises and tenons arecast-iron. The posts are screwed into the mortises. The tent is pitched withthe ends east and west, the skylight to the north. The dark-room is in thewest end of the tent, in two apartments, size 4J x 8 feet, by 6 feet high. Itconsists of a frame with one upright post, and two arms, one 4J and the other8 J feet, making the length and width of the room, and fastened to the postswith strap hinges. On the end of each arm is a hook, which fastens to an eyein tlie plate. The frame is covered with double brown Canton flannel. The tent frame is covered with twelve-ounce canvas, lined with brownCanton flannel to exclude the light. Over and around the skylight are bluecurtains, to soften t^. light.
