A flintlock pistol, Giovanni Battista Bergonze, Brescia, circa 1670 Octagonal two-stage smooth-bore barrel in 15 mm calibre, fluted and chiselled at the breech, then round. The top of the barrel signed "LAZARO LAZARINO". Three-dimensionally, beautifully chiselled flintlock with signature "Gio Batta Bergonze". Carved walnut full stock with lavish iron inlays shaped like tendrils and blossoms. Sophisticated openwork butt cap, trigger and trigger guard featuring monster creatures.
