On February nth the regi-ment left on through trainsvia the New York Centralfor Chicago, again stoppinga few hours for a glimpse ofNiagara Falls. On the 13 ththe men filed off in the PolkStreet Station and marched tothe First Illinois NationalGuard Armory. Thestaywasnot long enough to permit ofseeing the throng of relativeswaiting there. Organizationswere quickly reformed andstarted in a pouring rain to bereviewed by Major GeneralWood and parade through the Loop. A regimental dinnerat the LaSalle Hotel was en-joyed by all. At five oclock in the after-noon the trains were off againfor Camp Grant, reachingthere at q:oo p. m. Leav-ing the train, the regimentmarched to the barracks ofthe 4th Battalion DischargeUnit—its final army quar-ters. The following morningthe machinery of musteringout commenced its those days which wereexceedingly strenuous for clerksand their assistants, the restof the regiment had little to
