PEARL HARBOR (June 27, 2017) - Faces of the Deep: "As a submariner, it’s taught me how to grow up and depend on myself and also my crew," said Machinist’s Mate (Auxiliary) Fireman (SS) Ivan Carrillo, from El Campo, Texas and Sailor aboard the Virginia-class submarine USS Mississippi (SSN 782). "I used to think it was just about myself and doing things on my own, but I’ve learned it’s more about teamwork. We work as a team to get the boat underway and fix whatever needs to get fixed. As a team, I have a better perspective of every submariner’s role in the bigger picture." (
