Oblique view of Blackpool's Central Promenade, with green heart at the base of green lights Blackpool Tower. The heart, near the tower base, is 9m (29 ft) wide and has been recently installed as a display of love for the town. The sculpture is made up of 900 programmable LEDs and is a quarter of the way up the west side of the tower. The tip of the heart is about 39m (128 ft) above the promenade. The heart is part of the computer-controlled lighting system of the tower and can be operated in isolation or in combination with the lighting further up. In 2013 and 2014 the blue 'Bling' jewels illuminations along the promenade in front of the Tower were sponsored by Beaverbrook the Jewellers,
