Confucius the Second, or, a New Sun rising in the Asiatic World!, This engraving depicts Fox as the bright sun, rising over the River Ganges, while on the far bank, a fallen Hastings is in shackles. In the foreground stand some of the actors in the drama that brought about Hastings' downfall, including the Raja of Benares, the Begums of Oudh, Burke and North, all hailing the dawn of a new age under their liberator.
