Yunxian Man fossil skull cast. Yunxian Man refers to two fossil skulls of Homo erectus, discovered in Yunxian County, China, in 1989 and 1990. This is the Number 2 skull, one of the most complete such specimens ever found in China. It dates to between 350,000 and 500,000 years ago. The skull was in poor condition when found. It took more than 10 years before it was possible to carry out a reconstruction, which was completed in 2004. This cast was produced by selective laser sintering (SLS) using data from a 3D scan of this reconstruction of the fossil. This cast was made by the French company Initial. Photographed in 2010.
