TEST FOR DIABETES ELDERLY PERSON

Functional insulinotherapy. 65-year-old man, diabetic patient of type 1, carrier of an implanted pump, is doing a glycemia test before the meal. The patient communicator which is on the table (blue rectangular object) is linked to its implanted pump through waves; it will enable him to order an injection of an insulin dosis, after he will have received the result of the glycemia test. Functional insulinotherapy enables a diabetic patient to adapt his treatment of insulin to his life style and to different situations of the daily life (physical activity, stress, disease, exceptional meal, etc). To putting in pratice this therapy we must rely on a perfect evaluation of the glucides absorbed ; therefore, simple formulas elaborated by diabetologists enable the patient to calculate precisely the dosis of insulin that will be necessary for the meals depending on the food and activities. This therapy enables a wider autonomy of the patient who will become responsible to manage the disease.
