19th century vintage photograph - Grizzle giant, giant sequoia tree, Mariposa Grove, Wawona, California, United States, in the southernmost part of Yosemite National Park. In the foreground is Galen Clark (March 28, 1814 – March 24, 1910), the first European American to discover the Mariposa Grove, and is notable for his role in gaining legislation to protect Yosemite. For 24 years she served as Guardian of Yosemite National Park.
