The platform-hood construction consists, principally, of twolight diaphragms connecting the body deck with the hoodbow and supporting the platform-roof plates. FLOOR AND SEATS The floor of the car body is formed of corrugated-steelsheets on which is placed a covering of composition flooring15/16 in. thick at the sides and crowned to 1 5/16 in. thickat center of car. The top covering is applied only in the aislebetween seat risers; under the seats only the corrugated-steelsheets are used. The aisle floor is rounded up at the junctionwith the seat risers to a radius of 3 in. to eliminate a cornerfor the collection of dirt. On the platforms sheets of J^ Interborough Steel Car—Part Plan and Side Elevation of Framing At the eaves, the letter board, eaves fascia molding and sideplate are formed by a single pressed section % in. thick, whichfits over and is riveted to the tops of the posts. The carlineswhich are one-piece pressed channels bent to the curvaturesof the upper and lower deck, are formed with flanged endswhich are riveted to the top of the posts. An angle bracketon top of each post is also riveted to the carline and to thetop flange of the plate and letter-board section, thus securelytieing together the side and roof framing. No headlining isused on the upper or lower deck, but an advertising cardrack, formed of a curved No. 22 gage plate, is riveted to theinside fascia molding section and to a Y^-m. angle at the plate covers the bottom curve of the carlines and theriveting at the top of the posts. The lower deck roof is formed of curved steel sheets 1/16in. thick, which are bent over o
