5 Pfennig stamp issued in February 1934. Paul von Hindenburg (1847-1934) died in August 1934. In 1933 Hindenburg had made Hitler Chancellor of Germany. With the death of Hindenburg, Hitler declared the office of president vacant and declared himself Fuhrer.
