He came upto the University in1912, entering the Fa-culty of Arts with theintention of studyingfor the Indian was amember of Epsom College for threeyears, and in September 1914 enlisted in thePublic Schools Corps. The following month hereceived a commission in the nth Gordons, andin October of 1915 he crossed to France to jointhe 8th Gordons.
