Sooty terns (Sterna fuscata) in flight. These black and white birds are found on most tropical and subtropical coasts. They breed 5 times in every 4 years, the interval between breedings (just under 10 months) being consistently maintained. The single egg is laid in a large colony of up to hundreds of thousands of birds. Photographed on Layang Layang Island, Malaysia.
