It has an area of square kilometres ( sq mi) and a population of over 833,000 people at the 2010 Census. Rumah gadang (Minangkabau: “big house”) - or more correctly called by Minangkabau people rumah bagonjong(Minangkabau: “house with horn-like roof”) - are the traditional homes (Indonesian: “rumah adat”) of the Minangkabau.
