The Grey Squirrel, (Sciurus carolinensis), is a scatter hoarder, it hoards food in numerous small caches, It has been estimated that each squirrel makes several thousand caches each season and has a very accurate spatial memory for the locations of these caches, They do not hibernate, They inhabit mature dense woodlands.
