Members and supporters of the Tri-State Coalition for Responsible Investment protest in front of the New York Mercantile Exchange and the Irish Hunger Memorial on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 to draw attention to the ramifications of excessive speculation in the food and energy markets increasing the costs of goods. The group called on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to rein in the speculation as per a January 2011 mandate from Congress. The CFTC has not addressed the issue. (© Richard B.
