SirCharles Douglas of Kelhead, as heir-male of theDouglases of Drumlanrig, and has descendedthrough him to the present holder, Percy Sholto,9th Marquess of Oueensberry. Returning to John, 3rd Earl of Selkirk and1st Earl of Ruglen [Ixix.], at his death in 1744,the earldom of Selkirk passed to his grand-nephew, Dunbar Hamilton of Baldoon, who. Edmund Fttzmaurice, yth Earl of Orkney, etc. CHILDREN OF THE 3^° DUKE 205 assumed the additional surname of Douglas onbecoming 4th Earl of Selkirk. He had sevensons, of whom the three elder bore the secondtitle of Lord Daer in succession, and died with-out issue ; the three next in succession also diedbefore their father, and the seventh, Thomas Ham-ilton-Douglas, succeeded as 5th Earl of died in 1820, and was succeeded by his onlyson, Dunbar-James, 6th Earl of Selkirk, uponwhose death without issue in 1885 the earldomreverted to the Duke of Hamilton.
