'The Hare and the Rabbit', c1850. The central image shows wild and domesticted rabbits. Surrounding vignettes show (clockwise from top left): a child with pet rabbits in a hutch; hare-coursing with dogs; a hare as a present for eating; a skin dealer buying skins from a cook or housewife; making 'beaver' hats which contained rabbit fur; a game dealer with hares and rabits on display; catching rabbits in a warren; a furrier selling capes and other fashion items made of rabbit fur; a rabbit seller hawking dead rabbits in a town street.
