The One Hundroil an Eleventh Infantry lilinois Volunteers was organized at Salem, Il-linois, ill September, 1862, by Colonel James S. Martin, was mustered in, September18th. Aggregate strength, 886. October 31-t, 1862, the Regiment moved, by rail, to Cairo ; thence to Columbus, Ken-tucky, where it remained for the winter. On Mirch 12th, 1863, moved to Fort Uieman,Tennessee, and Colonel Martin was plnctHl in command of post of Paducah, 2(nh May, the Re;;iment moved to Paducah, Kentucky. On 31st October, embarkedfor Eastport, M ssissippi. Landed November 4th, and, on 5th, moved to Gravel Springs,losing, in a skirmish, 4 men. On 27th November, was temporarily assigned to SecondBrigade, Second Division, Sixteentli Army Corp-J, and marched toward »Jiattanooga, Ten-nessee. Arrived at Pulaski, November 12th and was assigned to Fifteenth Corps, M:)jorGeneral Frank P. Blair commanding. Remaim-d at Pulaski until February 2oth, 1864
