The colony of Selinus (modern Seliunte) was founded in the mid-7th century by Greeks from Megara Hyblaea in Sicily and Megara in Greece. It was the westernmost Greek colony on the island of Sicily. From the 6th to 5th centuries at least 10 separate temples were built. In 409 , Carthage destroyed Selinus. The Acropolis was where inhabitants fled, and this photo is taken from that site. In the foreground are remains of temples - In the distance is Temple C, the onlly one that still has considerable standing structure left. This photo dates to 1970.
